Professional supervision makes a pivotal contribution toward enhancing professional skills, engaging in professional learning and ensuring quality, ethical and accountable service delivery. 

Professional social work supervision aims to solidify practice frameworks, understanding of theories, addressing ethical dilemmas and professional integrity and development. 

Able To Be provides professional supervision and mentoring to social workers and other professionals in the human services sector.

Able To Be offers therapeutic social work sessions that uphold the principles of empowerment and self-determination. In these sessions we work together to recognize the present resilience factors and strengths, which frame and guide a pathway to regaining a sense of control over the issues brought to the session. Therapeutic support and motivation involves developing an accepting, trusting, and respectable relationship through open communication and empathy.

About Ruth

Born in Ireland, Ruth came to Taranaki in 2007 where she continues to live with her family. Qualified as a teacher Ruth worked for several years in a Coastal Area School as a classroom teacher as well as in a careers and guidance role. She left teaching in 2013 to work in a wider social service context and has been employed in NGO, Statutory and Private sector. Ruth is now a Registered Social Worker with a Master of Social Work (App) from Massey University.

Having gained an in depth knowledge of community conditions throughout Taranaki Ruth believes there is a scope for developing and offering services which enhance both individual, agency and community relationships across the region.

Perhaps it’s the Irish in her but you will find Ruth easy to talk to and enjoy meaningful interactions which are driven by her passion for people, their wellness and our community.
